1.  Rules:  The regatta will be governed by The 2009-20012 Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US Sailing, the rules of the International Sunfish Class Association, except as any of these altered by the Sailing Instructions.  The regatta is designated Category A.
2.  Advertising:  Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
3.  Eligibility and Entry:  Each competitor shall be a current year (2011) member of their respective country’s Sunfish Class Association.  All sailors must have reached their 40th birthday as of the first day of racing.  USSCA  membership forms will be available at registration.  See attached registration form for entry fees. 
3.1  Advance Registration:  Competitors may register on-line or by completing the entry form and sending it with the appropriate fees to:  Lake Bluff Yacht Club, PO Box 292, Lake Bluff, IL  60044.
4.  Fees:  Entry fee will be $75 per competitor prior to September 1st and $90 per competitor after September 1st.  This includes 2 continental breakfasts, 2 lunches and one dinner (Saturday).  Additional meals may be purchased at registration.  Breakfast $3, Lunch $6, Dinner $12.
5.  Schedule of events:

5.1  Number of races:  The race committee will attempt to run as many races as possible in the two days.  One race will constitute a regatta.
6.  Measurement:  All boats may be measured against the class rules prior to and/or during the regatta.
7.  Sailing Instructions:  Will be available at the registration desk.
8.  Venue:  The regatta will be held at the Lake Bluff Yacht Club beach and the surrounding waters of Lake Michigan.
9.  Courses:  The courses will be either Windward/Leeward, Triangle or a combination thereof.
10.  Scoring:  Scoring will be low point scoring system in accordance with Appendix A4.1 of The Racing Rules except that one throwout will be given after 6 races have been completed.
11.  Radios:  On-board radios shall monitor only channel WX and transmit only on 9 or 16 while on the water.
12.  Prizes:  Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each age division as well as the top three overall and the top opposite sex.

14.  Changes to the Rules: 
            14.1  Boats starting more than 5 minutes after the staring signal will be scored as DNS.  This changes Rule A4.2
            14.2  Boats failing to finish within 30 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored DNF.  This changes Rules 35 and A4.2.
            14.3  On the last day of the regatta, a request for reopening a hearing shall be delivered , 1) within the protest time limit if the party requesting reopening was informed of the decision on the previous day; 2) no later than 30 minutes after the party requesting reopening was informed of the decision that day.  This changes Rule 66.
15.  Liability:  Competitors Participate in This Regatta at Their Own Risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for any damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.  “SEE RULE 4, Decision to Race.”  All entries must sign waiver.

Waiver of Liability

I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing and by all other rules that govern this event. In consideration for its sponsorship of this event, I hereby release the event organizers, their officers, employees, agents and members from any and all claims for damages for death, and personal injuries or property damage in any manner related to this event or the operation of the event organizers. I hereby acknowledge that it is always the individual responsibility of each skipper to determine whether to start or to continue racing.  I hereby release Lake Bluff Yacht Club (“LBYC”), its officers, directors, agents, servants, volunteers, and employees while I am participating in or practicing for any contest or exhibition of an athletic or sports nature sponsored by LBYC, including the 2011 US Masters Championships. I recognize and understand that the event is voluntary in nature and participation is at the invitation of LBYC. I recognize that I incur risks attendant to sail and water-related activities, particularly in inclement weather, and I assume the risk of any bodily injury that I may incur while participating in the Event. I fully agree to waive any and all claims, charges, losses and liabilities, including those caused by negligence, that LBYC, its respective officers, directors, agents, servants, volunteers, and employees might have for, and agree that LBYC, its respective officers, directors, agents, servants, volunteers, and employees shall not be liable for, any bodily injury to myself incurred while I am participating in the event or which may arise from, or in any way be in connection with, the activities of the events and/or its organizers. I am aware that the activities may involve maneuvering a boat or other watercraft in deep waters in potentially hazardous conditions which may include, without limitation, air temperatures, strong winds and currents, high waves, sudden and unexpected immersion in deep waters and collision with other watercraft or stationary objects such as docks, pilings and buoys. I understand that I am responsible for my actions while I may be participating in the Regatta. I further hereby release and discharge LBYC, and its respective officers, directors, agents, servants, volunteers, and employees, from any and all negligence, liability, damage, injury, loss, cost or expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, incurred by me and arising in connection with or as a result of my participation in the 2011 US Masters Championships event.
