Spring 2001

Spring Cocktail Party Will Start Off the Season Right

Start the boating season with a bang on May 12th at 7pm with your fellow yacht club members.  The Spring Cocktail Party will lift your spirits and get you thinking of those warm days to come on the beach.  A mailing with details will be coming soon.

Volunteers Wanted

Want to throw parties for your friends and neighbors?  All LBYC events are run by volunteers and we would love your help with social and sailing events during the year.  Much of the fun of our events is that everyone pitches in to make the events special.  Think about signing up to help with something during the year.  Time commitments are reasonable depending on your interests and willingness to delegate to others.  Help make 2001 another fun year of club events.  Call the social committee co-chairs Karen Jenkins at 234-2532 or Elisabeth Brunner at 295-5738 to discuss how to help out.  Volunteer sign up sheets will also be available at the spring cocktail party.

Compound Clean Up - Boats In

May 12th

Help is needed cleaning up the boat compound after the long hard winter.  Stop by between 11am and 5pm on May 13th (rain date is May 19th) and lend a hand getting the compound in ship shape for the summer season.  Please note that all boats without paid for slots must be removed by this date otherwise they will have to be moved and the locks cut in order to make room for the new user.  Call Art Cottrell at 295-2431 for more information.

The 2001 Sunfish NA’s Need Your Help!

The Lake Bluff Yacht Club and the North Shore Yacht Club are sponsoring the North American Sunfish Championships during the first week of August this year.  This internationally sanctioned event will bring between 80 and 100 Sunfish sailors from across the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.  If you or your company would like a unique marketing opportunity, consider becoming a sponsor of this exciting event.  Have your company’s logo on promotional materials and other publicity from this regatta.  Sponsors will also have special access to photos from the NA’s and the ability to gain greater international recognition from this week of sailing.  Call Rich Chapman at 362-6409 or Dan Feldman at 926-0878 to get a sponsor’s packet and learn about this great opportunity.
